Greetings! I am Reshena Johnson, a Usui Shiki Ryoho Practitioner, Crystal Reiki Master, Womb Sauna Practitioner, Integrated Energy Therapy Practitioner and owner of Akoma Reiki & Healing.

My journey with healing work began as I was exiting my 20’s. I examined my life and I realized that I was not living a life that was true to my purpose. Of course my life was good, but I knew it could align more closely to my purpose. I knew that in order for it to be better, I needed to connect with my truth and my true self. It was while embarking on the path to self-discovery and wellness that I began to realize that after 10+ years in the non-profit world, it was time to dedicate myself to work that I was passionate about, fulfilling and would allow me to help others in a deeply meaningful way.

When I opened myself to pursing my true purpose, whatever it may be, that is precisely when the Reiki energy began to call me. I don’t really remember how or if I’d ever heard of Reiki, but when I heard the word for the first time, it felt familiar and I knew that was what I was part of my purpose and I’ve been studying and practicing Reiki and other healing modalities ever since.

My introduction to womb work came about as a result of my personal journey to healing my womb on a mental, physical and spiritual level. Searching for natural healing methods for myself lead me to the website of Thema Azize Serwa, pioneer of the Womb Sauna method and my teacher. I was immediately inspired by the impact of the very powerful work she was doing and knew I was meant to join the effort to teach women the power of their womb. I knew that part of my divine purpose was to teach women (and men) that they are powerful enough to heal themselves!

Akoma, pronounced uh-co-mah, is one of the Adinkra symbols created by the Akan people of Ghana. Akoma simply means ‘the heart’ and respresents patience and tolerance. At Akoma Reiki & Healing, akoma is at the core of the work that we do, and what we strive to give to all of our clients!
